Fresh engine oil being poured into a car engine

Keep your car going in the island heat

A little maintenance at the right time saves a big repair later. Here is what to check and when, and the kind of work we do every week.

When to service what

A rough guide for most cars. Your owner's manual has the exact intervals, and we're happy to look them up for your model.

  1. Every 5,000 to 10,000 km

    • Engine oil and oil filter
    • Tyre pressure and tread
    • Coolant, brake and washer fluid levels
  2. Every year

    • Airco check and cabin filter
    • Brake pads and discs
    • Battery test
    • Wiper blades
  3. Every 2 years

    • Brake fluid
    • Coolant
    • Air filter, sooner on dusty roads
  4. Every 40,000 to 100,000 km

    • Spark plugs or glow plugs
    • Timing belt, if your engine has one
    • Transmission fluid

What Aruba does to a car

Heat

Batteries often last only two or three years here, and the airco works all day. Coolant and tyres take a beating too.

Salt air

Sea air eats into brake parts, the underbody and electrical connections. A regular underbody rinse helps.

Dust and sand

Fine dust clogs the air filter and the cabin filter, which makes the airco smell and blow weaker.
